I wrote this book to share with people my remembrance of the miracles of God during the 9/11 terrorist attack, the courage of the American people, and the love between a husband and wife.

John asked me if I wanted to stay home while he broke into New York to receive his cancer treatments. I was shocked that he would even consider that I might stay home while he trekked off into the middle of a war zone. He smiled and said he knew I would say that. He was glad I was going with him. I was more afraid of him dying than I was of the terrorists.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center told us on 9/11 that if we missed the treatment on 9/12 it would be weeks before the treatment would be administered.

New York City shut down. The entrances had all been blocked. The Trains had shut down. The Limo driver came to pick us up on the morning of 9/12. He told us that his daughter had been near the towers when the dust and debris began rolling down the streets. He said she was home now and doing well.

He also shared with us that he could only take us so far to New York City and then he would be turned away by the road blocks. We were devastated. The driver hesitated and told us there might be a way. There was a train still open to take emergency workers into New York. He could take us to a station and drop us off there. We agreed.

No one was at the station when we arrived. We were able to purchase tickets and board the train. I think the conductor knew we were not emergency workers, but he took our ticket anyway. We were really blessed that morning! This is where the journey began.
